We attached the SOC to a winch and placed the SOC in a kiddie pool filled with 4/3 gallons of olive oil and canola oil. Our live test was quite successful in soaking up approximately 60%, about .78  gallons, of the oil found in the pool. The total percentage of oil absorbed by the device was lower than anticipated because, due to the properties of canola oil, the oil absorbent pads could not collect canola oil. Setup was simple and, relative to other existing solutions, the time it took to setup SOC was miniscule.
